Centenary Methodist Church, now a Global Methodist Church in Mount Ulla, NC, traces its roots to August 22, 1871, when twenty-six faithful individuals pledged between $0.50 and $30.00 to construct a house of worship for the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. Situated on a lot along the public road between Sydney Hearts and John Hearts in rural Rowan County, this small but devoted community of believers has steadfastly served God, the Methodist Church (United Methodist Church from 1968-2023), and the surrounding area for over 150 years. Through numerous changes in both the church and the Mount Ulla community, their unwavering commitment to faith and service has remained constant. The name "Centenary" is a connection to the centennial celebration of Methodism, which began with John Wesley in 1739. Centenary Global Methodist Church is a loving family-oriented congregation that lives to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ in a growing community.
